1. the act or process of communicating; fact of being communicated. (According to www.dictionary.com)

Is communication only within two people? Let me give you an example, you are watching tv and an advertisement comes up. Are you the only one watching? No. There are much more around the world watching it as well. This is also call communication. Then it makes you suggest whether it is a different type of communication. Well it actually is. The first communcation between 2 people is called Interpersonal communication while the one involving the television is called mass communication.

Interpersonal communication involves two person. Communication can be both give good and bad outcomes. Take this for an example. An information is being pass and suddenly somewhere, someone spills out the wrong information thus everyone would be in trouble but if the right communication tools where use, this wouldn’t result in this kind of communication.

Mass communication involves the media. Radios, Television, etc. are all tools for mass communication. Even in this aspect bad communication can also occur. In the articleShannon stated that she was trying to solve the physical noise , such as interference  on a radio broadcast ,poor TV reception ect. These are interference which causes bad communication in the tools of communication that is experience while communicating. Other than that, there are also major distractions between a receiver and the sender. Even thought they did not have any language barriers or no physical noise existed, the receiver somehow was distracted by something else.  “without a receiver , there is no one to communicate with. ” It all starts with communication which could affect the outcome of it.
